DURBANVILLE - Gang violence has descended on school grounds in the Western Cape.
A Grade 7 pupil has been suspended for stabbing a Grade 5 pupil at Alpha Primary School in Durbanville last month.
The victim's grandmother said her grandson is now scared to go back to school.
Last month, he and his friends were playing soccer at school when a group of Grade 7 pupils allegedly attacked and stabbed him with scissors causing injuries to his chest and arm.

The victim's cousin had been involved in a stone-throwing incident the day before the attack, and his grandmother believes the attack was retaliation.
Activists have expressed concern following this incident as said safety must be boosted at schools.
The Western Cape Education Department confirmed that disciplinary action began on 5 March. The school has also increased its security.
In the meantime, police are investigating a case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
