CARLETONVILLE - The Gauteng Education mourns the death of a 16-year-old pupil from Badirile Secondary School in Khutsong, Carletonville.
It is alleged that Grade 9 pupil was stabbed by a Grade 10 pupil at the same school.

Gauteng Education spokesperson Steve Mabona said preliminary reports indicate that there was an altercation between the two pupils on school grounds on Thursday morning.
"The injured pupil was rushed to a local medical facility and sadly succumbed to his injuries," Mabona said.
Mabona confirmed that following the incident, the school has started disciplinary action against the alleged perpetrator.

At the same time, police have also launched investigations into the matter.
"The Department has dispatched it's Psychosocial Support Unit to visit the school tomorrow to provide support to the affected learners and educators," Mabona added.
Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane has condemned the incident and has called upon parents and guardians to assist in instilling discipline in children at home.
Chiloane said it takes a collaborative effort to ensure our learners behave appropriately and remain safe.
