Home Affairs stops illegal exit amid repatriation process

JOHANNESBURG - The Department of Home Affairs has warned it will not tolerate illegal border crossings.

A South African woman was stopped after trying to leave the country with her Malawian partner.

According to Home Affairs official Albert Matsaung, the woman is alleged to have no travel documents and was attempting to use a process reserved for undocumented migrants going back home.

“When people would like to go and visit other countries, they must follow the necessary process and also make sure that they don't cross into other countries illegally,” he said.
