Illegal mining | Zama zamas dig into Krugersdorp again

KRUGERSDORP - The SAPS in Gauteng has called on Krugersdorp communities to work with them in the fight against illegal mining and criminality in the area.

Residents say they live in fear a year after calm was restored, but now zama zamas have come back.

Operation Vala Mgodi was launched late last year, with members of the SANDF deployed to assist police in the fight against illegal mining.

In the space of a few weeks, a number of horrific cases have been reported,
with two women said to have been raped in the last week.
