Joburg residents to get water soon - Rand Water

JOHANNESBURG - The latest phase of Rand Water's maintenance may be complete, but many Johannesburg residents are still without water.

The water utility says reservoirs must refill for pressure to gradually return, especially in higher areas.

The maintenance programme is scheduled to continue across Gauteng until 21 July.

City of Johannesburg elector-mechanical manager Gugulethu Quma says generally it takes longer to recover the systems because Johannesburg Water needs to build capacity and storage from the reserves and towers.

During the recovery phase, water pressure builds from low-lying areas to high-lying areas, meaning customers in low-lying areas get water first, followed by those in the high-lying areas.
