KWA-NZIMAKWE, KZN - The community of Kwa-Nzimakwe in KwaZulu-Natal gathered for a sombre memorial on Friday, to honour three murdered soccer players.
The vehicle they were travelling was shot at by unknown gunmen, in what community leaders believe is a mistaken identity assassination.
The deceased, Khayelihle Msomi, Mongezi Jwara and Mlamuli Ngeleka were playing for Whoza United, a small soccer team from Kwa-Nzimakwe, South Coast of KZN.
The team has recently been promoted from Thongasi Zone LFA to compete in Hollywood Bets Regional League. The three players were gunned down on the day the time was promoted.
KwaNzimakwe Football Association says this is a great loss, as the players showed a huge potential and were important assets to their team and the league itself.
