KZN sets agenda for 2026 at SOPA

PIETERMARITZBURG - Fixing and growing the economy, addressing ailing municipalities, fighting crime and mitigating the impact of climate change.

These are just some of KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thami Ntuli's top priorities this year.

On Friday, Ntuli presented the SOPA emphasising that government is rebuilding the economy and protecting jobs.

KwaZulu-Natal is grappling with the devastating impact of foot and mouth disease that's crippling its economy and putting strain on livestock farmers.

Ntuli said while the department reports an extended vaccination rollout and continuous efforts to contain the disease, the province has received 200,000 doses out of 1 million batches.

This, he said, is the largest share of what has been received nationally.

The province is now expecting the same or more quantities every week until the head of population is covered.
