Luthuli Inquest | Witnesses dismiss train accident as cause of death

PIETERMARITZBURG - Witnesses in the inquest into the death of Chief Albert Luthuli, dismiss the initial 1967 finding that declared the ANC President-General's death as an accident.

So far, the inquest at the KwaZulu-Natal Division of the High Court sitting in Pietermaritzburg,
has heard testimony from Luthuli’s family and a range of other witnesses.

These include members of the police unit investigating cases from the TRC, ANC veteran Jeff Radebe and others. 

But, one of the star witnesses has been the former clerk and switchboard operator at Stanger hospital, Mahomed Manjoo. He received a telephone call about the alleged train accident and witnessed Luthuli being admitted to hospital.

Evidence leaders are expected to call more expert witnesses when the inquest resumes on Monday.
