Madlanga cases task team given 3 months to finalise investigations

JOHANNESBURG - The task team established to probe SAPS members implicated in Madlanga Commission of Inquiry and Ad Hoc Committee has been given three months to finalise investigations.

The team established in November 2024 has already commenced investigations on five members who have been identified and served with notices of investigations.

This was confirmed by Police National Commissioner Fannie Masemola during a media briefing on Friday.

According to Masemola the multidisciplinary task team is not solely relying on evidence presented at the commission as their investigations are not limited to the five officials identified so far.

He said their probe could expanded to include others should there be sufficient substance to warrant further action.

“We have also relied on other evidence hence we are investigating a little bit more than just the five,” Masemola explained.

While Masemola said the names of the officers cannot be disclosed at this stage, he confirmed of the five one has already been suspended.

The remaining officers have been served with notices of intended suspension.
