BLOEMFONTEIN - More than a month has passed since murderer and rapist Thabo Bester and his partner Dr Nandipha Magudumana were apprehended in Tanzania and brought back to South Africa.

Magudumana faces a raft of charges, including fraud, violation of a body, corruption, arson, assisting an inmate to escape and defeating the ends of justice, to name a few.

They fled the country after news broke of Bester's daring escape from Mangaung Correctional Centre in May last year.

They spent nearly a year enjoying a lavish lifestyle before the media storm hit.

Once it did, the pair escaped, crossing several borders before having their plans cut short by Tanzanian authorities.

In another stunning development, Magudumana launched an urgent court bid to be released and charges against her dropped.

Her reason?

She says she had been abducted and not -- in fact -- extradited.
