Mchunu tables police department budget vote

JOHANNESBURG - Police Minister Senzo Mchunu has announced a R120 billion budget for the ministry for the 2025/26 financial year.

Over R200 million of this money will be used for security for the G20 conference in November.

Mchunu made the announcement during the police budget vote in Parliament.

He says his worried over the increasing levels of gang violence in Cape Town.
18 people were killed in separate shootings since last week.

Mchunu says more units will be deployed to the metro.
