'Minister acted in good faith and within law' - Higher Education on SETA appointment

JOHANNESBURG - The Department of Higher Education says the DA's recent criminal complaint against the departments Minister Nobuhle Nkabane appears to be an act of 'political division'. 

This is according to the ministerial Spokesperson, Camagwini Mavovana. 

She was giving a responds to the DA's allegations surrounding the vetting of chairs in the Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) board.

The DA laying criminal charges against Nkabane for allegedly spinning a web of lies about an independent panel that green lit political appointments to SETA boards.

But Mavovana affirmed that the Minster acted in 'good faith' and 'within the law'. 

Despite these allegations Mavovana says the Minister remains focused on the upcoming Budget Vote speech before the National Council of Provinces (NCOP).

This as it is a 'critical moment' for shaping the future of skills development and economic inclusion.

"We call on the public and media to stay focused on the real work of building a stronger post-school education and training system," she said.
