National shutdown | Cele says Monday will be a normal working day

Police Minister Bheki Cele says lawlessness will not be tolerated during the EFF shutdown on Monday.

JOHANNESBURG - Police Minister Bheki Cele has commended those who've indicated they won't be participating in the national shutdown on Monday.

He says it will be a normal working day.

He also said no form of violence and criminality will be tolerated during the protest.

"We commend the many associations, the taxi industry, truck industry and others which have indicated that they do not support the so-called shutdown.

"We will ensure that businesses continue to operate on the day and roads are accessible, all government services will be available as normal," he said.

"We encourage our communities to report any form of criminality to and intimidation to their nearest police station.

"Monday will be a normal working day for all South Africans."
