Nkadimeng: Govt won't stop measures dealing with energy crisis

JOHANNESBURG - Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister Thembi Nkadimeng says the termination of the national State of Disaster on electricity will not stop measures that have been adopted to address the energy crisis in South Africa.

Nkadimeng says government will continue working to ensure the constant supply of power.

"Since the declaration, government has adopted a wide range of responsibilities in areas of different state of organs to mitigate the impact of load shedding and to ensure that we avert a national emergency," says Nkadimeng.

On Monday, Government announced the decision to scrap the electricity National State of Disaster with immediate effect.

The sweeping regulations gazetted in February allowed the then Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, to exempt critical infrastructure from rolling blackouts.
