NPA to oppose bail for alleged illegal mining kingpins

JOHANNESBURG - The case against suspected zama-zama kingpins has been postponed to 29 September.

Six suspected illegal mining kingpins appeared in court on Thursday.

They face charges including contravening the Precious Metals Act.

During their arrest last year, authorities seized 51 vehicles and seven properties believed to be proceeds of an illegal mining syndicate in Carletonville and Khutsong.

Three other suspects joined them in the dock.
