JOHANNESBURG - The IEC is calling on political parties to field more young people and female candidates on their lists for future elections.
Male candidates make up the majority at 62%, while females represent just 38%.
The Commission published the final list of candidates to contest the 4 November polls. The announcement was made at Elections House in Centurion.

The publication of the final list of candidates marks a milestone for the IEC's election timetable.
The Commission can now begin printing ballot papers.
The IEC said its election timetable will continue despite pending a appeal by the ANC after the party lost its candidate list case at the Electoral Court.

The applications for special votes open next Monday and all parties are set to sign the Code of Conduct next Wednesday.
