SOSHANGUVE - The Gauteng Department of Education has confirmed investigations are underway after a Grade 5 pupil was allegedly circumcised by other pupils from his school.
The department's spokesperson, Onwabile Lubhelwana confirmed the incident, which happened at the school in Soshanguve,Tshwane on 14 August.
He said the matter was reported to the department on 21 August and that investigations have since been launched by police.

He said investigations would establish the circumstances surrounding the allegation and where the alleged incident may have occurred.
“The outcome of the investigation will determine action to be taken,” Lubhelwana
According to Lubhelwana, at this stage the school has not reported any similar complaints or incidents.
“It must be noted that the said school has a supervision roster in place, which is implemented by teaching staff and patrollers who monitor various areas of the school premises,” he added.
