Political blame game as gang violence bites

CAPE TOWN - The Western Cape continues to be a hotspot of gang violence and recurring shootings.

August has been described as the bloodiest month of the year so far in the Western Cape.

Police have been confiscating illegal weapons and making arrests, but anti-crime activists say that more than 300 people have been reported murdered during August.

The DA says national government and law enforcement have not acted effectively, while the ANC argues the provincial government has failed to protect communities.

Benedicta van Minnen from the DA and Benson Ngqentsu from the ANC discussed this with eNCA.
