Political killings | ANC councillor gunned down in Pietermaritzburg
PIETERMARITZBURG - Another councillor has been killed in KwaZulu-Natal, this time in Pietermaritzburg.
ANC councillor, Mabhungu Mkhize, was gunned down on Friday afternoon.
A relative says it wasn't the first attempt on his life.
Sibongile Mkhize, a relative of the deceased, said, "On 16 December he normally does a Christmas celebration for the elderly."
"He does it every year to make them happy and also for the children. He was in his office with some of his workers and people came in and pointed guns at them and told him to lie down."
"They took the money that he was going to use for the celebration and his car. The vehicle was later found."
"When I spoke to him about it, he said that when they took his valuables, they warned him that they would be back to kill him.”
