MTHATHA - A power failure at the Mthatha Magistrate’s Court forced the bail application for the Walter Sisulu University residence manager accused of murder, to be postponed to Tuesday.
Manelisi Mampane is accused of killing student, Sisonke Mbolekwa, on campus last month.
Mbolekwa was among a group of students, who were complaining about living conditions when the shooting erupted.

Students and their supporters criticised those in charge of the Mthatha Magistrate’s Court for not having a back-up system to mitigate power failures.
The magistrate had previously barred the media from filming, citing the sensitivity of the case.
But the families of the victims have since submitted an affidavit asking the court to allow the broadcast of proceedings.
