JOHANNESBURG - Power outages have disrupted healthcare services across Gauteng.
The provincial health department blamed severe weather and pressure on the grid for the outages, with Johannesburg the hardest hit.
Affected clinics include Eyethu Yarona, Diepsloot South, Tshepisong, and Moroka Clinic in Soweto.
Winnie Mandela Clinic in Ekurhuleni is also without power tonight.
According to Gauteng department of health spokesperson Steve Mabona, backup generators are helping keep essential services running.

According to the first four health facilities in Johannesburg District have resorted to using backup generators to ensure that health services continue.
At Winnie Mandela Clinic, technical teams have been deployed and are attending to the facility's generator to ensure that the backup power system is restored, Mabona added.
Mabona said the department continues to monitor the readiness of backup power systems across health facilities, including generator functionality and fuel availability.
"GDoH will continue working with relevant technical teams and electricity utilities to monitor the situation and respond to power supply challenges affecting health facilities," he said.
