Public Protector shortlist | Acting PP makes the cut
The ad hoc committee established to nominate a person for appointment as Public Protector went through CVs with a fine tooth comb.
CAPE TOWN - South Africa is one step closer to getting a new Public Protector.
Eight people have been shortlisted out of 36 candidates.
They include acting public protector Kholeka Gcaleka.
The non-renewable term of office ends in October for the suspended Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane.
An inquiry set up to determine her fitness to hold office is yet to be finalised.
After the interviews in late August, a recommendation will be made to Parliament.
But it will be up to President Cyril Ramaphosa to have the last word.
