Rwanda, DRC cautioned over war

KINSHASA - The US is warning Rwanda and the DRC to walk back from the brink of war.

Kinshasa, the UN and Western countries accuse Rwanda of supporting M23 rebels in eastern DRC.

They say it's a bid to control vast mineral resources in the region.

But Kigali has consistently denied the allegations.

After months of calm, intense fighting resumed last month around the North Kivu capital of Goma.

Two South African soldiers were killed and three others injured in a mortar attack on a military base last week.

The SANDF is part of SADC force deployed to the DRC to help government forces fight the rebels.
