PRETORIA - Divisions within the ANC-led tripartite alliance have reached fever pitch.
The SACP claims its tripartite alliance partner, the ANC, is harassing its leaders.
SACP General-Secretary Solly Mapaila raised the issue at the party’s manifesto launch in Soshanguve.
The SACP is contesting local government elections independently, a move that has further strained its relationship with the ANC.
SACP members who also belong to the ANC are being forced to choose between the two parties ahead of the local government elections.

Several senior SACP central committee members were absent from the manifesto launch.
They include Buti Manamela, Stan Mathabatha, David Masondo, Polly Boshielo, and Blade Nzimande.
Nzimande tendered his apology.
All serve under President Cyril Ramaphosa as ministers or deputy ministers.
Mapaila also says his party’s councillors will be expected to uphold the selfless standards of late leader, Chris Hani.
