SA’s housing crisis | Over 1,200 Public Works properties illegally occupied

CAPE TOWN  -  More than 1,200 properties belonging to the Public Works and Infrastructure Department are illegally occupied across the country.

Minister Zihle Zikalala says his department is embarking on a drive to reclaim their buildings.

An eviction process to remove unlawful occupiers outside the Castle of Good Hope in Cape Town is underway.

But those occupying the buildings say they won’t move unless the government provides alternative accommodation.
