Search for new Public Protector continues

CAPE TOWN - Parliament is in the process of finding the next Public Protector.

It's interviewing candidates to be nominated for the position.

Eight candidates are gunning for the position to replace Busisiwe Mkhwebane, whose term ends in October.

Four of the candidates were grilled on Wednesday, with another four in the hot seat on Thursday.

Among them is Acting and Deputy Public Protector Advocate Kholeka Gcaleka.

But, the EFF wants her excluded after she cleared President Cyril Ramaphosa in the Phala Phala scandal.

Meanwhile, Mkhwebane continues her fight against being removed prematurely from office.
