Service delivery | Makhanda's desperate need for water

MAKHANDA - The Makhanda Local Municipality is ineffective and should be dissolved.

That's according to the Democratic Alliance in the Eastern Cape.

This call comes after weeks of water outages that have left residents at their wits' end.

The municipality has blamed the erratic water supply on maintenance at some of its dams and says it made alternative plans for residents, by deploying tankers.

But the Democratic Alliance says if the municipality had competent people,
it would easily tackle many of its infrastructure problems.

The DA warns that more businesses will be lost in the Eastern Cape town if this is not sorted out.
