SIU to release interim report into alleged Tembisa Hospital corruption

JOHANNESBURG - The Special Investigating Unit is set to release its interim report into corruption and maladministration at Tembisa hospital.

Whistleblower Babita Deokaran was killed four years ago after flagging some of the dodgy contracts at the health facility.

The report outlines progress in the SIU's probe into questionable tenders, worth an estimated R2,3 billion.

Among those implicated are convicted criminal Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala, and businessman Hangwani Morgan Maumela.

He's believed to be the mastermind behind the syndicate.
