
JOHANNESBURG - Six people have been arrested in Johannesburg in the past 24 hours for cable theft and vandalism.
Five suspects were arrested in Hillbrow on Thursday night while attempting to steal a transformer.

One of the arrested is a City Power contractor and the other is a City Power employee.
Three vehicles with the company logo were also confiscated by police.
The other suspect was arrested in Witpoortjie attempting to remove a copper cable.
City Power has welcomed the arrests.
The utility says a transformer was also stolen in Roodepoort but no arrests have been made.
City Power says the security measures they have put in place are bearing fruit with 26 incidents of cable theft and vandalism reported since Monday and 8 arrests have been made.
