JOHANNESBURG – Six people have died after a building collapsed in Johannesburg on Monday.
Two others remain trapped under the rubble.
Johannesburg Emergency Management Services spokesperson Xolile Khumalo says rescue technicians are continuing with their search operations.
She said one person has been rescued, while three others have not been accounted for.

According to Khumalo one of the major challenges facing the teams on the ground is the instability of the structure.
She said parts of the building is already caving in.
“We are being cautious to ensure that rescue teams do not get caught in another collapse,” she said.
The cause of the collapse remains unclear.
