DURBAN - The state has accused MP Fadiel Adams of trying to undermine the work of the Political Killings Task Team.
Prosecutor Advocate Nokulunga Ngcobo said Adams unfairly criticised the PKTT during several media briefings.
"From all the statements obtained, it is clear that the applicants' intentions were to redirect, obstruct, disturb, and or defeat the cause of the ongoing investigation in Sindiso Magaqa's case," Ngcobo said.
"To influence the outcome and to undermine the work of the Political Killings Task Team on the cases of Bonginkosi Dlamini and other matters.
"The applicant has, on numerous media briefings, been criticising. without merit, the work of the PKTT."
The State has also accused Adams of abusing his parliamentary status to gain unauthorised access to Westville Prison, using state-funded police escorts.
Ngcobo told the Pinetown Magistrate's Court that Adams arranged a blue light police escort.
Adams was arrested at his Parliamentary Village home last week and is now applying for bail.
