VANDERBIJLPARK - The state is opposing bail for scholar transport driver Ayanda Dludla.
He's accused of causing the deaths of 14 pupils in Vanderbijlpark earlier this year.
Three other children were injured in the crash.
The 23-year-old faces 14 counts of murder and three counts of attempted murder.

He also faces charges of driving without a professional driving permit, operating an unlicensed vehicle and driving a vehicle without a certificate of fitness.
The state argued that releasing Dludla would not be in the best interests of justice.
It said his life could be in danger, as public anger over the deaths remains high.
Dludla is appearing in the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate’s Court for a formal bail application based on new facts.
