Tracy Brown killing linked to corruption cases

GQEBERHA - Another public prosecutor has been shot dead in the Eastern Cape.

Tracy Brown was gunned down in front of her partner and child in the Algoa Park suburb of Gqeberha.

The targeting of an NPA employee follows three months after the murder of Ngcobo district prosecutor Elona Sombulula.

According to a family friend, Brown's killing is likely linked to her recent work on cases looking into government corruption.

He received a shocking phone call from Brown's partner informing him that Tracy had been shot.

At Brown's neighbourhood in Young Park, residents locked themselves in their houses, fearful and reluctant to speak to the media.

One neighbour says they are still in shock.

The National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson says they are still going after those who are responsible.

Justice and Constitutional Development Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi will be visiting Brown's family on Sunday.
