QWAQWA - Some University of the Free State student say they feel betrayed by the interim agreement reached by the university's administration and student leaders.
UFS and the SRC reached an agreement on provisional registration on Wednesday night.
The institution agreed to phase out the controversial system over the next two years.
UFS has also obtained an interim court order prohibiting any individuals from engaging in unlawful activities or conduct on any of its campuses.
The order applies to all UFS campuses: Bloemfontein, South, and Qwaqwa and remains in force pending the final determination of the matter.
eNCA's Nkosikhona Malinga-Mnisi spoke with some UFS students, who asked to remain anonymous out of fear of victimisation.
One student said, "I feel betrayed because during these mass meetings that we've been holding, we as students and SRC, we've been one."
"At this point, they're agreeing with the management when they said they would not agree. They said they would come up with a solution that would benefit everyone. At this point, I don't feel like it's going to benefit all students."
"I feel betrayed, like they're not on our side as they claim to be."
Another shared, "The communication has been made but not with us. They communicated by themselves but not talking to us. It's a clear betrayal."
