US-Venezuela conflict - Civil society, unions picket at US Embassy

PRETORIA - Civil society organisations and trade unions are picketing outside the US Embassy in Pretoria.

They're protesting the attack on Venezuela and the abduction of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.

Maduro appeared before the New York court on charges of narco-terrorism and drug trafficking.

He was abducted in a US special forces raid in Caracas on Saturday. 

Maduro pleaded not guilty and told a federal judge in Manhattan, "I'm innocent. I'm not guilty."

Maduro's wife also pleaded not guilty. 

The judge ordered both to remain behind bars and set a new hearing date of 17 March.
