Rand Water says the shutdown is necessary to conduct maintenance and repairs on a water line.

Residents and businesses aren’t happy and worry the water won’t be restored on time.
Affected areas include Randburg, Roodepoort, parts of the South, Soweto and Honeydew.
Residents have been urged to use water sparingly and to possibly stock up for the 58 hours.
