CAPE TOWN - For years, the Singabalapha informal settlement in Observatory in Cape Town has been home to about 150 families.
But in just two months, residents will be forced to pack their bags after a Western Cape High Court ordered the site to be vacated by 30 November.
The group had moved to Singabalapha informal settlement after they were evicted in 2019 from the Arcadia Place old age home, a building they had hijacked.

The City of Cape Town has been trying to move them on ever since and has recently got a court order to do so.
Singabalapha dwellers have urged city officials to accommodate them in town, where their children attend school.
In 2012, the Western Cape High Court ordered the Masonwabe Hostel to be demolished after the building was declared unsafe.
14 years later, the Masonwabe residents are still living in the temporary housing they were moved to.
The City now plans to redevelop the original hostel site into housing to accommodate both the Masonwabe and Singabalapha communities.
