JOHANNESBURG - The TRC Cases Commission of Inquiry is set to hear oral arguments on the recusal applications against its chairperson, Judge Sisi Khampepe.
Former Presidents Jacob Zuma and Thabo Mbeki both want her gone.
Zuma wants Khampempe to step aside, citing bias.
His issue is linked to the 2021 contempt of court ruling and claims procedural unfairness.
Mbeki, meanwhile, says Khampepe’s historical past with the TRC and National Prosecuting Authority compromises her.
The Commission was established in May 2025 to investigate political interference and obstruction in the post- TRC prosecutions of apartheid-era crimes.
