Zuma's pension at risk after R28.9m legal blow

JOHANNESBURG - Former president Jacob Zuma has been ordered to pay back R28.9 million to the State Attorney.

This sum is from state funds used to pay a private firm for legal costs incurred by Zuma during court proceedings relating to his prosecution for corruption and related offences.

The Gauteng High Court in Pretoria also ordered that if Zuma doesn't pay within 60 days, the State Attorney must attach his immovable and/or movable assets to satisfy the debt.

His presidential pension benefit is at risk of being attached.

The State Attorney must report to the court what steps will be taken to obtain the money.
