JOHANNESBURG - The Treatment Action Campaign wants government to stop dragging its feet and fix problems impacting the establishment of an effective HIV treatment programme.

Early this year, government committed to rolling out the 'Close the Gap' campaign with the goal of getting 1.1 million people on treatment or back on treatment.
TAC's Limpopo provincial manager Daniel Mathebula says the risk of patients stopping treatment runs high if ARVs aren't made more easily available.
Mathebula said, "We really understand that there might be administration challenges to some provinces to start enrolling people, and we need that to be fixed urgently."
Mathebula also said some people who have tested positive for HIV have not been able to access treatment and the campaign seeks to take them back to care.
