Testimony by KZN SAPS commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi continued with more names mentioned of former and current members of parliament.
Mkhwanazi claims Police Minister Senzo Mchunu was pressured into the decision, and says he has proof linking Mchunu to crime syndicates.
The commission has three months to deliver its preliminary report.
Criminologist, Professor Kholofelo Rakubu unpacked the day's proceedings with eNCA's Andrew Barnes.
Rakubu commented on the complexity of being mentioned at the commission.
"Name-dropping here is not just that one is implicated or one was involved in the legal issues. It might be that one was executing their duties by holding a particular office..." she said.
Wednesday is expected to be filled with more explosive revelations.
