It wants the court to set aside Ramaphosa’s decisions to suspend Police Minister Senzo Mchunu rather than fire him, and to establish the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.

Meanwhile the chair, Mbuyiseli Madlanga, says the Commission of Inquiry into Criminality, Political Interference and Corruption in the Criminal Justice System, has started its work in earnest.

On Monday he was outlining progress since the commission was announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa on 13 July.

It will centre on explosive claims made by the KZN Police Commissioner about a criminal syndicate extending its tentacles into SAPS and other arms of criminal justice.
