JOHANNESBURG - There were no major surprises as Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos announced his 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
South Africa, which will be captained by goalkeeper Ronwen Williams, will face Mexico on the opening day of the tournament. The 2010 hosts will then face Czechia and South Korea.
The squad was announced by Broos in the presence of President Cyril Ramaphosa at the Presidential Guesthouse in Pretoria.
The glaring omissions from the squad include Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brandon Peterson, Orlando Pirates playmaker Patrick 'Tito' Maswanganyi and Mamelodi Sundowns veteran Thapelo Morena.
The surprise inclusion was Chiefs left-back Bradley Cross.
