Former soccer star, Katlego Mphela says nothing will kill his goals

From the roar of the crowd to the roar of the engine, former Bafana Bafana star Katlego Killer Mphela is now a car salesman.

The former striker represented the country 53 times scoring a total of 23 goals but one of his most memorable was in 2009 during the game against Spain at the Fifa Confederation Cup, where he hit the back of the net from 30 yards free kick. Those were the Glory days for the marksman that also played for Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs.

But the truth is professional sporting careers are not for life. Now 38 years of age, Mphela who retired from professional soccer in 2019, has recently pivoted into a new career.

Mphela says in the past he has ventured into a number of businesses that eventually did not turn out as he expected. He says soccer still remains his first love and he does consider finding his way back to the green pitch as a coach or part of the technical team.
