EFF wants Godongwana to resign

JOHANNESBURG - The Economic Freedom Fighters is calling on Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana to resign.

The party says he failed to present a budget that is lawful and developmental.

Despite Godongwana's recent announcement that the VAT hike will not go ahead, the court has ruled in favour of the EFF and the DA in their case.

The EFF and the DA brought an urgent application before the Cape Town High Court to halt the increase.

Both parties challenged the legality of the hike, announced as part of the revised fiscal framework.

The VAT rate was scheduled to rise to 15.5% on 1 May, but now remains at 15%.
