JOHANNESBURG - Convicted serial rapist Nkosinathi Phakathi will be sent for mental observation.
That's the ruling of the High Court sitting in Palm Ridge.
The defence brought an application for him to be referred to a psychiatric facility, on the strength of a mental health expert's diagnosis.
Psychologist Dr Lynette Roux told the court that Phakathi suffered from numerous mental disorders including Schizophrenia.
The 39-year-old was convicted in November after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting 90 women in Ekurhuleni, in a reign of terror that lasted nine years.
