Gauteng education MEC calls for investigation into pupils' death

JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng Education MEC, Matome Chiloane has recommended an independent investigation into the deaths of two Daveyton Skills School pupils. 

They drowned while attending a school camp on Monday.

Action will also be taken against those who organised the unsanctioned school trip.
Chiloane says his office was not aware of the camp.

He says preliminary reports show there were no teachers and just one social worker.

The recent tragedy at Rock Falls Adventure Ranch in Centurion has reignited discussions about the safety of school trips.

The grandmother of one of the deceased says she want answers.
