MIDRAND – Floyd Shivambu has made it clear he is not leaving the Umkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) despite his demotion from secretary general to ordinary member.
Speaking at a media briefing in Midrand on Thursday, Shivambu said he would not be joining the ANC or the EFF, which he strongly criticised.
"I will never resign from the MK Party.
“How will you replace the opportunity to learn in six months what you could not learn in 10 years? I knew from day one that we are about to start a journey of deep learning and understanding," he said.
Shivambu's briefing comes a month after the MKP distanced itself from his controversial visit to Malawi to meet with fugitive Pastor Shepherd Bushiri.
The party viewed the trip as a serious breach of political discipline.

Despite the fallout, Shivambu expressed unwavering support for the party and its founder and president.
"Under no circumstances will I ever fault president Jacob Zuma and his politics. I joined Umkhonto weSizwe because I thought that his politics should be protected, a legacy built around his politics," Shivambu said.
He did not hold back in his remarks about the ANC and EFF.
"I will never join the ANC. It is directionless and is in collaboration with the white system," he said.
As for his former party, the EFF, Shivambu commented: "Some said I should never rejoin it because it is a cult and I agree. There is no room for sound ideological reasoning there."
