Minister Zizi Kodwa to take action against DA after flag burning campaign

Sport, Arts and Culture Minister, Zizi Kodwa, is considering taking further steps against the Democratic Alliance over the party's ad depicting the South African flag burning.

JOHANNESBURG - Sport, Arts and Culture Minister, Zizi Kodwa, is considering taking further steps against the Democratic Alliance over the party's ad depicting the South African flag burning.

Kodwa has called it 'abhorrent and unpatriotic'.

He has also instructed the Acting Director-General, advisors and the department's legal unit to urgently advise him on the steps he can take.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has also commented on the DA's campaign ad, describing it as treasonous.

Ramaphosa says the ad is unacceptable.

Meanwhile, the DA's Federal Council Chair, Helen Zille, has defended the party's controversial election campaign ad.

She says she sees the ad as the only way to convey a stark warning to South Africans.

Zille is of the view that the campaign conveys the hard truth that the country will burn should a coalition between the ANC, EFF, MK and PA, become a reality.

She also believes that the controversy will help get the party's message across.
