SA Navy Festival cancelled after Kommetjie incident

KOMMETJIE - The South Africa Navy Festival, expected to take place over the weekend, has now been cancelled.

This follows the death of three Navy officers when they were swept off the SAS Manthatisi by high waves off the coast of Kommetjie.

The submarine had been on its way to Table Bay Harbour to take part in the festival.

Four other officers were rescued but are still recovering from their injuries.

Admiral Musawenkosi Nkomonde says an inquiry into the accident will be established.
